New CLT Land Stewardship Coordinator!

Land Stewardship Coordinator Mark Lowery

CLT would like to welcome Mark Lowery, who just joined our team as the new Land Stewardship Coordinator!

A lifelong resident of South Carolina, Mark was born in Pickens County where he spent most of his childhood, and where he gained an appreciation for the natural beauty and solitude of the foothills. Mark lived in Dorchester and Berkeley counties for several years before moving to Columbia where he received a bachelors degree in Geography from the University of South Carolina. After more than 20 years in the GIS field, followed by a brief hiatus as a bread baker, Mark is thrilled to be the newest member of the Congaree Land Trust staff.

Mark's primary responsibilities at CLT will be coordinating the annual monitoring visits for our 167 conserved properties, as well as utilizing GIS data to develop maps, reports and other tools. He'll also assist with special conservation projects and CLT's community outreach programs.

"Mark brings extensive GIS mapping and geography expertise to his role as Land Stewardship Coordinator, as well as a great appreciation of local land conservation" said Stuart White, CLT's Executive Director. "We are thrilled to have him on board."
